CBCPL Kids' YouTube Channel

Check us out! We've uploaded our first two videos for you to watch. Youth Services Librarian Dana Campbell shares with us a paper-folding story she recently told during Preschool Storytime and sings "There Was an Old Woman Who Swallowed a Fly." We hope to add more videos soon featuring stories, favorite rhymes, activity ideas, and early literacy tips. Let us know what you think and watch for more videos to come!

Pick of the Week: Tiny Little Fly

Tiny Little Fly by Michael Rosen, illustrated by Kevin Waldron
Tiny little fly teases a great big elephant, a great big hippo, and a great big tiger. Each animal tries to catch that fly - but...that funny little fly can't be caught! Michael Rosen's text is just right for reading aloud to young listeners. The story is simple, with just the right mix of rhyme, rhythm, and anticipation! Kevin Waldron's bold illustrations capture the visual relationship between the tiny fly and the large jungle animals. The illustrations capture the energy and suspenseful play between the buzzing fly and the bothered animals.

New Children's Music Albums

I'm always on the search for new children's music - especially albums that can be enjoyed by both children and the adults in their lives! Check out a few of the more recent additions to the Juvenile Music Collection at the Corvallis-Benton County Public Library.

More Please! (Caspar Babypants)

Caspar Babypants is one of my personal favorites for early childhood music. Chris Ballew (formerly of the band Presidents of the United States of America) has a great voice that definitely has child and adult appeal. If you're new to Caspar Babypants, you'll also want to check out the album Here I Am!

The Best of the Laurie Berkner Band
Laurie Berkner has been a professional musician and a favorite of kids for awhile now. If you haven't listened to the Laurie Berkner Band, check out this "best of" album! My personal favorites are "Moon Moon Moon" and "Song In My Tummy."
Giggling & Laughing: Silly Songs for Kids (Music for Little People)
A great compilation of silly songs by classic children's musicians: Raffi, Dan Zanes, Taj Mahal, Shelly Duvall, Cheech Marin, Buckwheat Zydeco, and many talented others.

Check out these, too:
A Cow Says Moock (Alastair Moock)
I Love to Hear the Sounds (Kathy Reid-Naiman)

Party Like a Twinkle Star (Charity and the JAM Band)
Rhythm of the Rocks: a multicultural musical journey (Marylee & Nancy)
Sunny Day (Elizabeth Mitchell)
Super Kids Rock! (Yosi & the Superdads)
World of Dreams: Soothing Songs and Lullabies (Charlie Hope)
